About us
We’re Heckin Good – pet insurance built by vets and loved by pets. Heckin Good Ltd is a directly authorised insurance intermediary, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 1013447). We design and arrange our policies, which are underwritten by Fortegra Insurance UK Ltd.
We’ve worked in veterinary practice for a heckin long time. We wanted to create pet insurance that focuses on the bigger, unexpected vet bills – so pet parents can choose the cover that suits them.
Heckin Good was founded by two practising vets, Matt Dobbs and Owen Monie. We designed every policy ourselves, using what we’ve learned from decades of treating cats and dogs.
Our insurance products are all about making sure that cost-conscious pet parents have the right protection in place for their furry friends, at the right time.
Matt Dobbs
Co-founder and vet
As a practising vet for over 25 years, Matt got frustrated with the lack of insurance that could give his Irish Terriers, Finn and Murphy, just what they needed: vet cover for when they were sick, without paying for services they’d never use. Matt believes all animals deserve the best veterinary care when they’re unwell, but that most pets would rather avoid unnecessary trips to the vet. Building a service that keeps pets happy at home is his passion.
Matt’s other claim to fame? He was the chicken vet to the Big Brother house, rescuing the hens from the cameras, action and hot lights in series 2!
Owen Monie
Co-founder and vet
A vet and a friend of Matt’s, Owen wanted to give pet parents a choice: pay for routine care themselves, with cover in place for the big costs of treating a poorly pet or an emergency.
Together, Matt and Owen founded Heckin Good, on a mission to help every dog and cat in the UK get the right cover.
Owen is a vet with Animal Trust, loves surgery and has even treated an elephant with an ulcer!
