We’re Heckin Good. We’re an insurance company that’s built by vets and loved by pets.
We’ve been working in the veterinary industry for a heckin long time, and from the front line we saw that pet insurance just wasn’t working. It wasn’t cost-effective for pet parents, it didn’t really make sense to vets and most importantly, it didn’t benefit the vast majority of cats and dogs in the UK.
So, we decided to fix it.
Our insurance products are all about making sure that cost-conscious pet parents have the right protection in place for their furry friends, at the right time
Matt
Co-Founder
As a practicing vet for over 25 years, Matt got frustrated with the lack insurance that could provide his Irish Terriers, Finn and Murphy, with just what they needed; vet cover for when they were sick, without paying for services that otherwise wouldn’t be used. Matt was concerned that the vet insurance sold on comparison websites wasn’t designed to provide value to the pet parent. Matt believes that all animals deserve the best veterinary care when they’re unwell, but that all pets would rather avoid unnecessary trips to the vet if they can help it! Building a service that keeps pets happy at home is his passion.
Matts other claim to fame is that he was the chicken vet to the Big Brother house, rescuing them from the cameras, action and hot lights in series 2!
Owen
Co-Founder
As a vet friend of Matt, Owen was annoyed that clients were paying too much for pet insurance and needed to make lots of small claims for vet care. He realised that most pet parents would be happy to pay for routine or lifetime pet care, as long as the large cost of treating a poorly pet and/or emergency care was covered.
Together, Matt and Owen formed Heckin Good, and are on a mission to help every dog and cat in the UK get the right cover they deserve.
Owen is a vet with Animal Trust, loves surgery and has even treated an elephant with an ulcer!
