Heckin Good

Puppy Insurance UK – Affordable cover from £5 a month

The ultimutt puppy insurance for your canine companion

Designed by vets, loved by pets

Getting a puppy is one of the best things. An unexpected vet bill in the first few months doesn’t have to be one of the worst. HeckinGood covers the situations that cost the most, at a price that actually works.

Puppy insurance covers your dog for veterinary costs during illness and injury.

Get financial protection during the months when accidents and unexpected health issues are most common.

HeckinGood offers two puppy insurance options:

Get Well Soon

Get Well Soon covers illness and injury for up to 42 days per condition, for cases that need treatment but not an overnight stay.

What does Heckingood puppy insurance cover?

LifeSaver — Emergency overnight puppy insurance

LifeSaver covers the cost of an emergency overnight stay at a veterinary hospital. If your puppy is admitted overnight in an emergency — due to an accident, a sudden illness, or anything else that requires hospitalisation — LifeSaver can cover the vet fees up to £9,000 per policy year, but you can choose lower indemnity limits of £3000 or £6000 per year, too.

This is not a comprehensive policy. It covers the specific situations that tend to generate the largest single bills. It does not cover routine check-ups, vaccinations, dental treatment, or non-emergency consultations.

LifeSaver is an emergency insurance policy. Cover applies to emergency overnight hospitalisation only. Exclusions apply — see the policy documents for full details.

Get Well Soon — Time-limited illness and injury cover

Get Well Soon covers illness and injury treatment for up to 42 days per condition. If your puppy becomes unwell or is injured and needs a course of treatment, Get Well Soon covers vet fees up to your choice of limitation (£3,000, £6,000 or £9,000) for that condition during the 42-day window.

Get Well Soon is a time-limited policy. Cover for each condition ends after 42 days or when the policy limit is reached — whichever comes first. It does not cover chronic or ongoing conditions, routine care, or pre-existing conditions.

Get Well Soon is a time-limited insurance policy. Cover per condition is limited to 42 days. This policy does not cover chronic, long-term, or pre-existing conditions. Exclusions apply — see policy documents.

Worried about your puppy? Speak to a vet before you visit one.

All HeckinGood policies include access to VidiVet — a video consultation service staffed by registered veterinary surgeons, available at no additional cost.

For new puppy owners especially, VidiVet is genuinely useful. If your puppy is behaving strangely, eating something suspicious, or showing signs you’re not sure about, you can speak to a qualified vet directly from your phone. They can advise on whether it’s a wait-and-see situation, a vet visit, or an emergency.

It’s completely free with your policy — all you need to do is register.

Why do puppy owners need insurance?

Puppies are curious, unpredictable, and remarkably good at finding trouble. They eat things they shouldn’t. They injure themselves playing. They pick up infections from other dogs before their vaccinations are fully active.

The first year of a dog’s life tends to generate more vet visits than any other — and when something goes wrong, it usually goes wrong quickly. An emergency overnight admission can cost £1,500 or more before treatment even begins. A course of treatment for a sudden illness can reach several hundred pounds within days.

Most puppy owners don’t expect a large vet bill in the first few months. Insurance means that if it does happen, the cost doesn’t decide what happens to your dog.
